Had the best eggplant parmesan, and meatballs. Great antipasto salad and fantastic wine. Service wonderful. Love this restaurant. Mario and family are great hosts.

Sicilian Italian restaurant. The homey romantic atmosphere makes it a hot spot for valentine's day and prom night. The excellent food and excellent service make it a great spot every other night. The absolute best Italian food in Mendocino County. It's a little out of the way for the typical traveler, but easy to find. Menu includes Italian favorites like Eggplant Parm, Meatballs, all the way to pizza (fantastic). Back rooms are kid friendly. Large parking area makes it accessible for any size vehicle.

We walked in the door and were ignored for 11 minutes before we were seated. Our orders were taken fairly quickly which was nice. I ordered the chicken picata, my husband and son ordered pasta with meat sauce. A lady 1 table over ordered chicken pinata and was told by the waitress that you have to call in ahead if you want chicken pinata. Weird, I was not told that. When the food came 40 minutes later I wish I would have been told I couldn't order it. The chicken was white. Not even lightly pan fried looking or baked, just white. The sauce was strange, looked like pasta water when the starch starts to set. I took 2 bites and that was all I could manage. I helped my husband eat his dinner that was merely ok. They picked up my full plate never inquiring if it was ok. We paid our hefty tab and left. We have eaten here before and the food was good. Fortunately I was not very hungry.

I love this place! Mario & his family make you feel like part of their family when you are here. The food is amazing with fresh ingredients and spices. The bread and sauces are made from scratch, no canned stuff. LOVE IT!

Ordered take out, it was ready exactly on time. We had lagasna and spaghetti Caruso (chicken livers and mushrooms.) They included lots of hot french bread, it was delicious! A repeat customer.

Great Italian salad and pizza. A nice bottle of Cesar Toxqui wine made for a wonderful meal.

This is a hidden gem. Great food, made to order, great service and unique atmosphere. Mario does everything with perfection, including the Tiramisu.

Valentine's Day was our first visit to the restaurant. we had a 7:30 reservation and we were promptly seated. the waitress was sweet but she was scattered. we had to remind her to ask us for our order for drinks and appetizer. we did not get our drinks for almost 15 minutes and we did not get our appetizer for another 15 minutes. our dinner to not get served to us until 8:30 p.m!.. meanwell the nearby guests had arrived after us and in 30 minutes they were served before us. in addition to that for almost $100 my opinion is at the food is mediocre and the wine selection is not very good. I mean the house wine is Franzia.. which everybody knows is served from a box of wine. the Fetzer sauvignon blanc that I did order was not chilled properly and was warm. My overall opinion is that the atmosphere is pleasant and the staff is friendly, but it is overpriced and overrated.

I had high hopes, old time Italian food, dim lights, romantic all true until food arrived. Mine was manicotti like wait watchers frozen dinner, my date had veal together we ate 1 price. Price was way more than value. Staff was wonderful they were the only high point

Absolutely wonderful! The people were so friendly, the atmosphere was so intimate and charming, and the food was amazing! I read in another review the Spumoni was to die for, so we gave it a try... It. Was. Incredible! We will definitely be returning. :)

Mario's pizza is simply the best in Northern California, if not the whole country. Try their extra clam, extra garlic pizza...it's divine. Family run, full of character and flavor. Make Mario's a stop on any...no EVERY...road trip up HW101.

Slow service, runny marinara sauce just tasted like tomatoes. Kind of fun decor.

We've never went out of our way to specifically eat Italian food until my son got a high school job as a busboy at Mario's 20 years ago. We've been fans ever since. Because of my son's "back room experience" we know that everything Mario cooks is fresh, authentic, and made from scratch, including his spumoni ice cream. Be sure to reserve some of this when you make your reservation as it's made in small batches and runs out quickly... it's pricey but worth it. (the spumoni)

Rude service. First time visit, last time disappointment. Food is good, price and wait time are not. Server makes you feel like you are a inconvenience. That sums it up.

Had a excellent experience in this spot with my son. The food arrives rapidly and the customer service is just good. Prices are reasonable.
